Designer highlights from The Bureau’s L.A. Fashion Week

By Larisa May and AJ Ceglia

The Bureau’s Los Angeles Fashion Week was held March 14 to March 16 at The Lot at Formosa in Hollywood.

Designers showed off their latest collections, with some standing out from the rest. Tapis  Baag, Veronica Unsigned and MSTR Stag made their mark on the runway with their newest pieces. Offering a variety of sophistication and style, these collections highlighted the range of luxury fashion that attendees have come to expect from The Bureau.

MSTR STAG’s ACT ONE collection referenced a mix of modern streetwear and mid-2000s iconography. Using a clash of dark and light tones, the outfits presented an eye-catching duochromatic callback to 2010s club culture, with pops of red in the models’ heels and makeup.

While the pieces have a light and effortless look, the designer uses a Merino wool blend in some of their tees and shirts, bringing luxury to the product.

The collection offers versatile pieces for a range of events. However, these basics are anything but basic.

Veronica Unsigned brought a different type of contrast through their collection shown on the 14th. The Noir collection showcased sheer tops, tight pants and long coats, perfect for going out in the winter.  It also featured a selection of their “aphrodisiac kimonos” in a variety of colors.

True to the title of the collection, the coats took on a noir aesthetic with long silhouettes and belts providing structure to the garment. This paired well with the tops, which were flowy with low-cut, deep V-necklines.

The primary color scheme of the collection featured rich burgundies, pear greens and cream tones.

Featuring luxurious silks and linens, paired with leather accents and gold hardware, the collection brought to life high-end fall wear.  pieces are inspired by 1920s flapper outfits, which designer Haley Peters believes are not very present today.

Tapis & Baag presented a collection of mixed tones and styles that reflected the classical fashion of eras bygone. Gowns adorned with corsets and sashes flowed over the shoulders of models. One model debuted a corseted piece, reflective of knights’ armor, complete with a hood. An array of colors were shown, mostly in rich jewel tones.

The models had a clean and polished look, and most designs were shown with an accompanying bag. With the formal feel of the pieces, this collection is perfect for any high-end dance or castle siege.

Many advanced and beginner models had the chance to flare up energy on the runway.  The Bureau will be hosting more productions this year, with Miami swim week up next in May. For the full schedule of events and ticket details, you can visit their website here.
