Chic en Bloom, a tribute to fashion and the great outdoors, sprouted in Downtown Phoenix on March 28. Featuring six designers and dozens of models, it was a spectacle and outpouring of talent and design.
Upon entering the venue, which was hosted at the A.E. England Building on Central Avenue, guests were greeted by an evergreen mannequin adorned in flowers, setting the tone for the evening that followed. The runway was a dark green turf lined delicately with wildflowers and the entire show was set to a lush background of greenery.
VIP members were given a special Chic Daily magazine issue that highlighted designers and messages behind the show. As I took a seat, the show’s mantra “Our first home, the fashion show” really came alive in front of my eyes.
As the lights dimmed and the show began, designers took their own spin on Chic en Bloom. Giovanna Manzo kicked off the show with her entirely crochet-based line. Models adorned in earthy greens in chic silhouettes encapsulated the elegance and resilience of nature.
Other notable designers were Mia Perry, with a more edgy presence on the runway, and Luna Bonneau, with designs that brought “fairy-godess” to life. In Perry’s line, models strutted in red, black and plaid pieces, creating an appealing contrast between the greenery of the show and the darker designs. Bonneau’s designs were feminine and soft, full of baby pinks and beautiful bows.
Finishing off the show was a line from designer Analilia Nava, under “Ascending Swan.” Her pieces reflected the cycles of nature: aqua blues, soft silhouettes, and natural greens. These show-stopping pieces were the perfect end to an eloquent lineup of designers.
After the show, volunteers from the Friends of the Tonto National Forest informed the audience that the ticket profits from the show directly go to protecting the Tonto National Forest– a true giveback to nature that we can all take pride in.
Chic en Bloom was a night to remember, full of blooming creativity and talent and a tribute to our first home: the fashion show.
